Beautiful Antique Oak Plant Stand

2 tier plant stand
2 tier plant stand

Our “Pick” this week is just in today and it is a beautiful antique oak two tier plant stand. The turnings are reminiscent of the Victorian style yet the tiers are shaped with unmolded edges suggesting that is was produced after the Victorian era. This piece was most likely produced between 1890 and 1930. It is made of solid oak and appears to have been recently refinished and stained a nice Jacobean Oak color. The Tulips were looking particularly nice today, I thought everyone should see them.

Large Salt and Pepper Collection

Salt and Pepper collection
Salt and Pepper collection

Our “Pick” this week is just in. A large collection of salt and pepper shakers, many are hand painted early 20th century. They are mainly single salt or peppers so this could be a great opportunity to replace a broken heirloom or make up a set of similar styles. I have seen in this mix shakers made in Bavaria, Japan, Nippon (Early Japan) and Czechoslovakia. The group is mostly hand painted porcelain, there is some luster ware and some nice glass shakers.

Floats by Jon Wilkinson

Our “Pick” this week is a recent acquisition; “Floats” a limited edition serigraph by Canadian Artist Jon Wilkinson. Mr. Wilkinson was born in Hamilton Ontario in 1940 and recently died in 2012. His work has been exhibited in Canada, Portugal, London and New York. This piece is 11/88, a hard to find early number in the print run. It has been professionally matted and framed and measures about 28″ by 29″ in the frame. The nautical theme of the work would be a fantastic addition to that vacation home or any home for that matter.
