It is all done and in the shop. A lovely antique 3 drawer golden oak dresser. This piece was produced between 1890 & 1920. It is solid oak with a full set of cast brasses. During the restoration I decided that I liked the lived in look of the top and chose to just bring it back to a usable condition rather than strip away all of the character. I did however have to create a new backsplash as it was missing. Originally the piece probably had a wishbone towel bar. The dresser measures 35 1/2″ wide by 17″ deep by 32′ high to the top and 34 1/2″ to the top of the backsplash. The dimensions of this dresser make it a good choice for someone looking to transform it into a vanity base for a vessel sink.
Coming Soon Oak 3 Drawer Dresser
Once again this week I’m highlighting a piece of furniture that I’m in the process of restoring for our “Pick of the Week”. My current project is a very nice late Victorian Oak 3 Drawer Dresser. I have had this piece for quite a while. When I purchased it from a local auction it was missing one drawer pull. It took a year or so but I finally found a match. Now with a full set of brasses I am ready to restore it. This picture is after cleaning and cabinet work. If everything goes well it should be in the shop in a few weeks.
Victorian Dining Table
It is finally ready and it looks great. Our “Pick” this week is a great Oak Victorian Dining Table that I have just finished restoring. This wonderful table is perfect for an apartment or condo. When closed it measures 32″ wide by 46″ long. It also has two leaves that extend the table another 15 1/2″. It will comfortably seat between 2 and 6 people. The table has a brand new extension mechanism (the old one could not be saved) and the top has been completely refinished. The top is now finished with an oil based polyurethane which will provide years and years of protection and beauty.
