Repurposed Tall Case Clock

IMG_2307IMG_2308

This week our “Pick” is an interesting repurposed Item. This is the center section from a Dutch tall case clock dating from the early to mid 1800’s. A new base was already built when I purchased it. I added a top and a shelf inside the case door. Now it is a shallow storage cabinet; a great decorative item with endless possibilities.

Hand Carved African Fertility Idols

Our “Pick” this week is also a little unusual. It is from the same estate as last weeks “Pick” and they did a bit of traveling. This time we have for your consideration a pair of African Fertility Idols. Both figures are hand carved Ebony and stand about 18″ high.  I find it interesting that the female figure is done it the traditional style, clothed only in beads. While the male figure is dressed as a contemporary European with an umbrella. Read into it what ever you want but it does say a lot about how the culture has changed over the years.

This week our “Pick” highlights three Gwen Frostic prints that are new to the shop. The print at the top depicts a pair of Merganser Ducks. It is a Signed two tone print. The long series of five is a lovely two color separation of blue flowers on Japanese paper, it is also signed. The last new print is at the top right. This is a five color separation of a shore line. Sadly this print is not signed. With these new additions we currently have five Gwen Frostic prints four are signed.
