The House of the Seven Gables

IMG_2830

This week our “Pick” is not very photogenic but that does not diminish it’s desirability to book lovers everywhere. Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The House of the Seven Gables. I believe this is the second printing of this world famous novel. Printed by Houghton, Mifflin & Co. in 1879. It is in very good condition for it’s age and much more affordable than a first edition.

Vintage Return of the Jedi Glasses

Return of the Jedi
Return of the Jedi

With the new Star Wars movie coming out it’s the perfect time to highlight this complete set of vintage Burger King Return of the Jedi Glasses. See Princess Leia as Jabba the Hutt’s Prisoner, Luke and Han Solo fighting their way off of Jabba’s Sail Barge, experience the final battle between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker and party with the Ewoks once again. It’s hard to believe that these glasses are over 30 years old. It does show the staying power that some collectables have, especially Star Wars.

On a side note we will be open every day from now until Christmas for your shopping convenience.

Antique 3 Drawer Golden Oak Dresser

Antique Oak Dresser
Antique Oak Dresser

It is all done and in the shop. A lovely antique 3 drawer golden oak dresser. This piece was produced between 1890 & 1920. It is solid oak with a full set of cast brasses. During the restoration I decided that I liked the lived in look of the top and chose to just bring it back to a usable condition rather than strip away all of the character. I did however have to create a new backsplash as it was missing. Originally the piece probably had a wishbone towel bar. The dresser measures 35 1/2″ wide by 17″ deep by 32′ high to the top and 34 1/2″ to the top of the backsplash. The dimensions of this dresser make it a good choice for someone looking to transform it into a vanity base for a vessel sink.
